A rough sense of my Newsletter subscribers
Like many others, I publish an email newsletter. I used to send new subscribers an automated “welcome” email that was all about me. But that bored me rigid. So for a change, I’m going to make it all about you. Or at least, about some of the people who have subscribed in the past (maybe still do). They include:
Authors of non-fiction, fiction, travel books, poetry, and books for children. Journalists. Historians. People who may not have been published yet but just love writing (and reading). Performers (stage, TV and film). Award-winning film director. Clergy. A literary translator. A Mercury Prize-nominated musician. Artists (paint, sculpture, typography, photography). People who just love art, including my art1. Publishers (including a Booker Prize-winning publisher2). Speechwriters (UK, Europe and elsewhere)3. Some of my north London neighbours. Nosy friends of my daughter(!). Academics and educators. People who like learning (including from me, on my courses4). Coaches (mostly working with execs). Corporate L&D people5. Lawyers. Accountants. Feminists. People who want to Change The World, and help you do it too6.
I’m sure I have forgotten some others, will kick myself when I remember.
(Therapists!)
But that’s enough to be going on with. I hope some of the types I’ve listed might seem familiar to you.
1 My art. “The print arrived yesterday and is even better in person. The colours are exactly right, the deep blues, greens, and purples at twilight, really lovely. Thank you!” – M.C. de Z.
2 Booker Prize. Sort Of Books
3 Speechwriters. Including the European Speechwriters Network
4 Courses. “You are a very patient tutor – and have the ability to put yourself back in the position and mindset of the learner which is so very helpful.” – C.S.
5 L&D people. Interested, perhaps, in things like this.
6 Change the world. Including The Albert Einstein Foundation, Creative Conscience the MAIA Awards, and Talk Club.
