Improvise your way to the top

Hey – JP here.

Thanks for asking me to do a three-hour improvisation course with your group on 5 May.

And thank you for your patience! I've been away for Easter, but I'm back at work now…

Having a good time can quickly create a bond

As you have seen already, the unique way I set up my sessions, and the specific exercises I use, create an environment where people are willing to take risks in front of each other.

This often produces laughter, and quickly creates a bond between individuals who don't know each other well, or even at all.

On top of that, the exercises throw up fascinating insights into how we work as human beings, and how we can always do things differently.

Who else I do this for

I have used impro training with a large number of groups:

  • major companies such as Google and Accenture,
  • non-profits,
  • schools,
  • prisons.

I've talked about, and used, the games and exercises before groups of as many as 5,000 people at once, on four continents. This video gives you an idea:

What people say

I'm happy to have received some extremely generous feedback.

Members of the public, at The School of Life, have over seven years given me an average score of 9.4 out of 10.

The head of one of Google's most prominent divisions said:

Amazing. We thought you would be quite good but had no idea how good. The exercises were a great way for people to engage with each other, and taught us a lot about ourselves.

But the feedback that made me happiest is this, from a long-term resident in a UK prison:

There are few occasions when you can genuinely forget you are “inside”, when you are a guest of Her Majesty, but this was surely one of them, and it lasted for a whole afternoon. John-Paul was brilliant, of that there was no doubt. But the fantastic thing was that so many of the ideas were coming from us.

To put my fee into some context, I currently charge individual coaching clients £450 plus VAT for one hour's work together.

When I did an all-day session in Vienna for YPO Danube, I charged £2500 plus expenses.

I charge less for public classes, at The School of Life and elsewhere, because I want to reach as many people as possible.

Because that's where we met, and that's the kind of price I mentioned, I would be very happy to charge you £400 plus VAT for this session.
