John-Paul Flintoff: My email policy

how to change the world

My email policy

By John-Paul Flintoff

As with any form of communication, it’s helpful to have clear terms of engagement. As a rule, with everyday emails, I aim to:

  1. Keep messages short
  2. Use clear requests
  3. Tell you if no reply is needed
  4. Avoid using attachments
  5. Assume the best, not the worst, if I hear nothing from you

I hope this is OK. It’s fine by me if you do the same. If you have any further suggestions, please leave a comment below.
