About John-Paul Flintoff

John-Paul Flintoff is a writer, but he does like a bit of variety

He’s also worked as bin man, executive PA, scuba diver, poet, taxi driver, tailor, gardener, ice-cream salesman, film-maker, assistant undertaker, bit-part player in pantomime, waiter, illustrator, high-wire window cleaner, photographer, very amateur boxer, karaoke singer, rat catcher, and more.

Admirers of his writing have included the documentary maker Michael Moore, the late George Plimpton (“really terrific story”), the director Richard Eyre and Harold Pinter, who commented: “Very good. Very funny… In fact, it made me laugh”.

John-Paul’s recent campaigns have focussed on the environment. They include: shutting shop doors, switching to electric cars, and building community energy schemes. He has also written extensively about disturbed urban youth, and the declining public appetite for formal politics.

His memoir, Comp: A Survivor’s Tale, attracted huge media attention on its publication, and praise from an assortment of people: Francis Wheen, Cristina Odone and – on her daytime TV show – Vanessa Feltz.

John-Paul lives in London and is represented as an author by Stephanie Cabot of the Gernert Company.
